The most important points of the speech of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the 75th session of the UN General Assembly:
- Under the auspices of the UN, it was proposed to develop an international code of voluntary obligations of states during pandemics;
- The proposal of the Secretary-General, Mr. Antonio Guterres, to hold a summit on the current issues of food security in the current crisis was approved;
- Called to support the initiative of Uzbekistan to adopt the UN Convention on the Rights of the Youth;
- It was proposed to adopt a special resolution of the UN General Assembly on achieving the goals of sustainable development and enhancing the role of parliaments in ensuring human rights;
- It was proposed to open a regional center for the development of transport and communications under the auspices of the UN;
- It was proposed to hold an international conference on the results of the 10-year regional joint plan and its prospects;
- It was informed on Uzbekistan’s readiness to hold an international forum on “Central Asia at the crossroads of world civilizations” in ancient Khiva in 2021 in cooperation with UNESCO;
- It was proposed to establish a permanent committee at the UN to listen to the concerns of the Afghan people;
- It was proposed to adopt a special resolution of the UN General Assembly on the declaration of the Aral Sea region as a zone of environmental innovation and technology. It was also noted that the date of approval of this important document should be celebrated as the International Day for the Protection and Restoration of Ecosystems;
- It was proposed to make the eradication of poverty and the fight against poverty one of the main topics of the next session of the UN General Assembly and to hold a global summit on these issues;
- It was noted that Uzbekistan is always ready to develop a wide-ranging and mutually beneficial partnership with all countries of the world as well as to have practical dialogue with the UN and its institutions.
