The Faculty of Medicine was established in October 1955. The first dean of the Faculty of Medicine was Associate Professor K.A. Zufarov. At that time, the Faculty had 10 departments with 120 students, later the number of students increased and the number of departments also began to increase. By 1957, the head of the Department of Biochemistry, Associate Professor M.G. Mirzakarimov, was appointed as the dean of the Faculty of Medicine. Today, the Faculty offers four specializations: General Medicine, Professional Education, Traditional Medicine, and Higher Nursing. Currently, a total of 5,751 students are studying in these directions, 1,327 on a state grant basis, and 4,424 on a fee-for-service basis. Specifically, in the field of General Medicine, 1,245 students receive state grants, and 3,998 pay tuition fees. For Professional Education direction, 32 students benefit from state grants, whereas 334 pay tuition. Among students of the Traditional Medicine direction, all 49 are paying tuition fees. Lastly, in the direction of Higher Nursing, 14 students enjoy state funding, and another 43 are studying on a fee-based contract basis. In 2023, a sixth-year student Butaboeva Musharrafkhon Makhmudjon kizi became a recipient of the State Scholarship named after Islam Karimov. Other sixth-year students—Shokhjakhon Abdurakhmanov, Dostonbek Alijonov, and Madina Solieva—were awarded the State Scholarships named after Abu Ali ibn Sina.
