The peoples of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan prove to be united by historical proximity, common values, and sincere friendship.

The state visit of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to our country on August 23-24, 2026 by the invitation of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev was an important historical event in further strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.

During the negotiations, priority areas of cooperation in trade, industrial cooperation, energy, transport, culture, education, healthcare and other areas were discussed. In particular, the signing of the Treaty of Eternal Friendship became a solid legal expression of the age-old friendship and mutual trust between the two peoples.

The practical expression of these friendly relations can also be seen in cooperation in the field of medicine and medical education. Today, Andijan State Medical Institute closely cooperates with higher medical educational institutions and professional medical organizations of Azerbaijan in a number of priority areas of medicine, in terms of exchanging experience, improving the skills of specialists, ensuring academic mobility and organizing scientific and practical events.

In recent years, these relationships have been further strengthened and are gaining practical content.
It is possible to highlight the areas of pediatric surgery, minor invasive surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, motherhood and childhood protection as the priority areas of cooperation with Azerbaijan and our institute. Academic mobility, advanced training, lectures, master classes and practical training have been organized in these areas.

In particular, lectures and master classes are held within the framework of academic mobility with the participation of representatives of the Azerbaijan State Medical University at the Department of Pediatric Surgery of Andijan State Medical Institute.

Azerbaijan specialists actively participate in international conferences organized by the Institute, while the Institute's professors and teachers also participate in international conferences, forums and professional development events in Azerbaijan. The participation of our students in international youth forums also serves to strengthen friendship and exchange of professional experience between young people.

The open lectures of representatives of the Association of Minor Invasive Surgeons of Azerbaijan at the ASTI within the framework of the "Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan Medical Days" held on June 27-30, 2024 proved to be a vivid example of effective cooperation.

In future, we will pay special attention to expanding ties with Azerbaijan universities in the field of medical education, establishing modern joint operations at the Institute's clinic, strengthening the academic mobility of professors, teachers and students, implementing joint scientific projects and publishing scientific articles.

It is gratifying that this year 20 young Azerbaijanis have expressed their desire to study at Andijan State Medical Institute. This is evidence of the growing interest in the international prestige of our institute and medical education in Uzbekistan.
I am confident that the efforts of the leaders of the two countries to develop friendly and strategic relations will open up new opportunities for cooperation in education, medicine, science, economics and other areas.

The team of Andijan State Medical Institute is ready to enrich further the friendly and fraternal relationships between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan with specific practical projects in the areas of medical education, science and healthcare.

After all, eternal friendship is not just a historical document, but also the foundation of strong cooperation and a prosperous future that will be built together for future generations.
