THE TEAM OF ANDIJAN MEDICAL INSTITUTE STUDIED THE EXPERIENCE OF CLEVELAND CLINIC AND FRANKLIN UNIVERSITY OF THE USA

The development of international cooperation is important for the higher medical educational institution as well as for all fields.

Therefore, Andijan State Medical Institute has established close cooperation relations with many countries with developed medicine. In particular, the delegation led by the rector of the Institute M. Madazimov returned from a business trip to the United States of America.

Initially, meetings were held with the officials of the Cleveland Clinic which has regularly been in the Top 3 in the ranking of the world’s strongest medical institutions for the past 10 years.

In particular, during the dialogues held with the participation of the vice president of the institution Tommaso Falcone and other officials it was agreed to bring mutual cooperation to a new level. Also, the head of scientific development and innovation of the clinic Matthew Krokh gave a presentation on innovative projects and priority directions in the scientific field.

After that, the members of the delegation led by the rector of the Institute met with Professor Muhammad Shazam Hussain, the head of the Cleveland Clinic Neurology Center.

During the dialogue, a presentation of the Cleveland Clinic on the implementation of innovative technologies in the field of neurology and neurosurgery was shown. An extensive information about new and modern methods of surgical treatment of epilepsy, prevention of strokes and cerebrovascular diseases was provided.

In the second half of the day the delegation of the Institute – professors, teachers, cardiac surgeons had the opportunity to improve their skills and experience in cardiac surgery. They took part in the prosthetic surgery of the base of the aorta, which was performed at the Cleveland Clinic Case Western University Hospital.

During the trip the activity of the world-famous biolaboratory of the institution was also closely familiarized. In particular, Ryan Klatte, the chief research engineer of the clinic, gave detailed information to the guests about the achievements of the laboratory staff in 3D modeling of human body parts, virtual shaping of patient parts after computer tomography and creation of artificial body parts prostheses on 3D printer and development of anatomically ideal implant model.

At the meeting, it was agreed to exchange experience with US experts on applying such advanced experience to the practice of the new laboratory established in Andijan State Medical Institute.

Also, within the framework of the visit, members of the delegation led by the rector of the Institute held meetings with the rector, vice president, head of the Global Cooperation Department, dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, heads of master’s and doctoral departments of Franklin University.

During the bilateral talks, the possibilities of opening joint educational programs in areas such as medical informatics, higher nursing and public health were discussed between Franklin University and Andijan State Medical Institute. At the end of the meeting a memorandum on mutual cooperation was signed.

At the same time, the pedagogical technologies used in the educational processes of Franklin University, the innovative developments used in distance education and taking exams and the working process of the multimedia rooms were studied.

During the trip, the representatives of the Institute took part in a number of operations at Case Western University Hospital and had the opportunity to directly observe these processes. “Aortic coronary shunting” was performed on 2 patients based on the Da Vinci system.

The next meeting of the rector of Andijan State Medical Institute M. Madazimov was with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the USA F. Siddikov.
In the conversation the ambassador emphasized that there were many high-potential personnel in our country, especially that the head of the country is paying great attention to the development of the medical field, and he said that the international exchange of experience of specialists will make a significant contribution to the development of the field.

Also during the dialogue ideas were exchanged with Andijan State Medical Institute and prestigious higher education institutions and clinics of the United States regarding the establishment of training programs, academic exchange and joint education programs.
