After the Andijan State Medical Institute was established in October 1955, the Department of Chemistry was one of the first to start its work in the same year. Academician Torakulov Yu.Kh. joined this department. basic slogan. The department continued its activity in the main educational building from 1955 to the end of 1999. At the beginning of 2000, in connection with the institute moving to a new building, modern educational laboratories were allocated from the 4th floor. The department currently operates in the 2nd educational building.

1996-2004, head of the department, prof. Karimov A.K. worked. He also worked as vice-rector for spiritual and educational affairs at ADTI, director of the 1st academic-lyceum under ADTI. During his work at the department, he paid serious attention to the educational process and its development along with scientific research work.
The members of the “Young Chemist” club organized in the department took pride of place in science olympiads of the Republic.
In 2004-2012, the department was called “Normal Physiology, Biological and Bioorganic Chemistry” and the head of the department was prof. Kadirov Sh.Q. appointed.
During 2012-2016, the department was headed by Associate Professor Khudoyarova AG. In the assessment of students’ knowledge in lectures and practical sessions, inter-views such as “Brainstorming”, “Beehive”, “Circle around the table”, “Incident”, “Pen on the table”, “Rotation”, “Gallery”, “Cluster” are used. active methods are used.
Since 2016, the department has been called Bioorganic and biological chemistry. The head of the department is associate professor Yu.Kholboev. appointed. 5 associate professors, 2 senior teachers and 8 assistants worked in the department.
In 2018, it was renamed as the Department of Biological Chemistry, and until 2019, Doctor of Chemistry, Associate Professor Tojiboev Madamin Mirzajonovich worked as the head of the department.
In 2020-2022, candidate of chemical sciences, associate professor Yusupov Muhammadshukur Mamadalievich worked as the head of the department.
Since 2022, currently, the head of the department is Doctor of Chemistry, Associate Professor Mamatova Irodakhon Yusupovna. Currently, 1 doctor of science, 1 candidate of science and 1 doctor of philosophy (PhD) are working in the department.
