Meeting with Temurbek Giyazov, Bronze Medalist of the 2024 Summer Paralympic Games

As you know, on February 13, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev chaired a video conference meeting to discuss measures for further developing the Olympic and Paralympic movements, advancing mass sports to a new level, and increasing physical activity among the population. Following the tasks assigned at this meeting, a series of events are being held at Andijan State Medical Institute.


In particular, today, on March 6, a meeting took place with Temurbek Giyazov, a member of the Uzbekistan national para-athletics team since 2016 and a bronze medalist at the 2024 Summer Paralympic Games, as well as a holder of the Shuhrat and Jasorat medals, who is a native of Andijan.

The meeting was attended by S. Salohiddinov, the first deputy rector for youth affairs and spiritual-educational work, psychologist O. Arzikulov, deputy deans of various faculties, sports coaches of the institute, and students.

Initially, the first deputy rector spoke to the students about the attention given to sports in our country, the high enthusiasm of young people in this regard, and how our athletes are proudly representing our flag on the world stage. Following this, athlete Temurbek Giyazov shared with the students his childhood passion for sports, how he relied on his willpower even in the toughest situations to pursue his goals, his preparation for competitions, the key to success, the joy of victories, and the trust and attention given by our state.

For reference, Temurbek Giyazov was born on March 15, 1996, in Kurgantepa district of Andijan region. He has been a member of the Uzbekistan national para-athletics team since 2016. Under the guidance of his coach Galina Kazakova, he improved his skills in high jump (T64). He won a silver medal at the World Championships in high jump (T64) held in Dubai in 2019, secured fourth place at the World Championships held in Paris in 2023, won a silver medal at the World Championships held in Kobe in 2024, and earned a silver medal at the 2022 Para-Asian Games. He also claimed a bronze medal at the 2024 Summer Paralympic Games.
