The Faculty of General Medicine was founded in October 1955. The first dean of the Faculty of General Medicine was Associate Professor K.A. Zufarov. At that time, the faculty had 10 departments, 120 students studied, later the number of students increased and the number of departments began to increase. In 1957, the head of the Department of Biochemistry, Associate Professor M.G. Mirzakarimov was appointed to the position of Dean of the Faculty of General Medicine. Today the faculty has 4 directions: medical treatment, professional education, folk medicine and higher nursing. Today, 5,751 students are studying in these directions, of which 1,327 are studying on the basis of a state grant, and 4,424 are studying on a payment contract. Of these, 1245 are studying on the basis of state grant in the field of general medicine, 3998 are studying on the basis of payment contract, 32 are studying on the basis of state grant in the field of professional education, 334 are studying on the basis of payment contract, 36 students are studying on the basis of state grant in the field of folk medicine, 49 on the basis of payment contract, 14 students are studying on the basis of state grant in the field of higher nursing, 43 – on the basis of payment contract.
