The Department of Infectious Diseases was established in 1960 under the Andijan City Hospital of Infectious Diseases, and associate professor Uchkun Ganievich Ganiev (1930-1995) was appointed as the first head of the department.
In 1972, the department was divided into 2 parts:
The 1st Department of Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology was headed by MD, Professor Gani Kodirovich Khamidov (1928-1997);
Since 1997, c.m.s., Associate Professor Yosin Kasimovich Kasimov was appointed as the head of the 1st Department of Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology. Yosin Kasimovich Kasimov worked as an assistant of the department in 1977, and as an associate professor of the department in 1985.
The 2nd Department of Infectious diseases (with Pediatric Infectious Diseases).
MD, Professor Komil Mirzaevich Mirzaev worked as a head of the department in 1934-2013.
In 1982, in connection with the opening of the faculty of Pediatrics at the institute, the 2nd department of infectious diseases was renamed as the department of “Children’s Infectious Diseases”.
From March 2005, the Department of “Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology” and the Department of “Children’s Infectious Diseases” were united and transformed into the Department of “Infectious Diseases, Department of Children’s Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology Course”. The head of the department was appointed Honored Doctor of the Republic of Uzbekistan MD professor K.M. Mirzaev.
In 2009-2014, the department was named as “Department of Infectious Diseases, Children’s Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology”, and associate professor Yulchibaev Mirzakhamdam Rakhimovich was appointed the head of the department.
Since May 2014, Associate Professor Mirzakarimova Dildorakhon Bakhodirovna, candidate of medical sciences, has been appointed as the head of the Department of Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology, Microbiology.
Since opening of the department, the following associate professors N.Kh. Khodjimatov, U.V. Ganiev, T.A. Yuldashev, M.A. Alimov, A.B. Khodjaev, M.R. Yulchibaev, S.K. Rasulova, K.T. Tashbaev, A.Kh. Khodjimirzaev, V.F. Rosina, Ph.D. T.I. Noraliev, and assistants V.M. Lenchitskaya, S.O. Daminova, M.A. Ganieva, T.A. Stromila, N.A. Mirzaev, H.N. Nurmatova, T.V. Kiselova, R. Muzaffarova, M.K. Otaboev, Z.M. Ermatova, O.N. Kolenyuk, M.M. Oripova, O.G. Kuznetsova, S.M. Mamatkhojaev, S.Kh. Toshmatov worked diligently in the department.
