Scientific-practical conference on the topic “New perspectives in the treatment of diabetic retinopathy: attention to fenofibrate” was held in Andijan State Medical Institute on April 26, 2023 organized by the Department of Ophthalmology and the Society of Ophthalmologists of Andijan province.
This conference was devoted to the prevention and treatment of diabetes. It was attended by specialists of the Department of Ophthalmology, doctoral students, independent researchers and ophthalmologists of Andijan province.
Nargiza Normatova, associate professor of the Department of Ophthalmology in the Center of the Development of Professional Qualifications of Medical Workers, Doctor of Medical Sciences, and professor Richard O’Brien, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the Melbourne University, Australia delivered an online lecture at the conference. They specifically focused on issues such as the symptoms of diabetes, types of complications, eye disease as a result of long-term high blood sugar in patients with the disease which can lead to a decrease in vision and even its loss.
Detailed information on the use of fenofibrates in the treatment of diabetic retinopathy was given in the lecture. Fenofibrates improved the results and proved to be an effective method for preventing complications. Also, Sh. Kadirov, chairman of Andijan region “Ophthalmology Society” and other specialists expressed their opinions during the lecture.
