The Department of Internal Medicine of the ASMI was organized in the 1958-1959 academic year on the basis of the therapeutic department of the regional clinical hospital. The department was headed by candidate of medical sciences, associate professor Efendiev T.M., who came from Tashkent. 5 assistants worked and taught at the department.
In the 1960-1961 academic year, separating from the department of internal diseases, an independent department of faculty therapy of the medical faculty was organized.
The head of the department is elected candidate of medical sciences, associate professor Kleiner G.M., associate professor of the department – candidate of medical sciences. Boltabaev A.B., assistants – doctors with extensive experience: Morozova O.G., Latypova S.A., Pulatov F.P., Abdurakhmanova N.A., Turina K.Ya., Karimova I. The base of the department becomes city united hospital.
In 1972, the regional hospital again became the base of the department.
In connection with the departure of Associate Professor O.G. Morozova upon retirement in 1977, the department is headed by associate professor M.G. Murzakaev.
In 1982, the department was renamed the Department of Internal Medicine No. 2.
Under the direct supervision of M.A. Khuzhamberdiev. in 1983, a laboratory was organized to study biogenic amines, catecholamines (adrenaline, norepinephrine, dopamine), metabolic products of catecholamines, VMC (vanillyl-mandelic acid); as well as enzymes (monoamine oxidases – MAO) for the oxidative deamination of catecholamines. The level of research corresponded to the standards of the hormonal laboratory of the First Moscow Medical Institute.
In 1984, Associate Professor M.A. Atakhanov became the head of the department.
In 1985, Associate Professor Khuzhamberdiev M.A. successfully defends his doctoral dissertation in Moscow. And in the same year, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor M.A. Khuzhamberdiev was elected head of the department.
In 1986, in connection with the appointment of Professor Khuzhamberdiev M.A. Associate Professor M.K. Karimov is elected head of the department to the position of vice-rector for academic affairs. The name of the department changed again – internal diseases No. 5, and in 1988 – the department of internal diseases and exercise therapy. Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Khuzhamberdiev M.A. is again elected head of the department. A.D. Juraev becomes the second professor of the department.
In 1989-1993 The department is again renamed the Department of Faculty Therapy. The department is headed by Professor M.A. Khuzhamberdiev.
In 1997, the department was called internal medicine No. 1, and in the same year it was renamed the department of faculty and hospital therapy with hematology and medical supervision. Head of the department – Professor Khuzhamberdiev M.A.
In 1999-2005 The department is called the department of faculty therapy, traditional medicine, exercise therapy and medical supervision.
From 2005 to 2015, the department of faculty therapy merged with hospital therapy and was called the department of faculty, hospital therapy and traditional medicine with a course of endocrinology and hematology. The head of the department remains Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor M.A. Khuzhamberdiev.
Since 2015, the department of faculty, hospital therapy and traditional medicine with a course of endocrinology and hematology has been divided into 2 departments: faculty therapy and separately hospital therapy. The head of the Department of Faculty Therapy remains Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor M.A. Khuzhamberdiev.
Since 2012, Ph.D. has been elected associate professor of the department. Vahabov B.M.
Since 2013, candidates of medical sciences have been elected associate professors of the department. Kodirova G.I. and Tashtemirova I.M.
Since 2019, Ph.D. has been elected associate professor of the department. Usmanova D.N.
In 2017, Associate Professor Uzbekova N.R. defended her doctoral dissertation DSc and has been working as a professor in the department since 2019.
In 2019, assistant Shamsiddinova A.S. defended her doctoral dissertation PhD.
Currently, the scientific potential of the department consists of 2 doctors of sciences and 6 doctors of philosophy. The scientific direction of the department is the study of the relationship between the sympathoadrenal system, lipid peroxidation, and the immune system in coronary heart disease, arterial hypertension, and metabolic syndrome. The department works with masters and clinical residents in the field of Cardiology. During the founding of the master’s program at the department, more than 100 residents successfully graduated and are working in the healthcare sector of the Republic of Uzbekistan. More than 80% of the department’s employees are graduates of the master’s program in Cardiology.
The department is located on the basis of the clinic of the Andijan State Medical Institute.
