Today, on January 27th, an important international meeting took place at Andijan State Medical Institute. The event was attended by Jaime McHunu, head of the International Grants Center at Harvard University’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Professor Timothy R. Rebbek, as well as representatives from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Health including Deputy Head of Science and Education Department G. Yusupalieva and Deputy Director of the Republican Specialized Scientific-Practical Medical Center for Oncology and Radiology H. Islamov. Guests were welcomed by K. Salohiddinov, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation at the institute.

At the beginning of the meeting, Vice-Rector K. Salohiddinov conveyed greetings and best wishes from the rector of Andijan State Medical Institute, M. Madazimov. He also briefly discussed recent reforms in medicine, scientific research activities, and efforts to expand international cooperation links. Both sides emphasized that this meeting would play a significant role in strengthening existing partnerships and launching new promising projects.
The discussion proceeded openly, engagingly, and mutually beneficially. As a result, several key areas for collaborative work between specialists from Harvard University, the Republican Specialized Scientific-Practical Medical Center for Oncology and Radiology, and Andijan State Medical Institute were identified.

Specifically:
✔️ Organization of training courses for nurses: It is planned to establish educational programs aimed at equipping nurses with modern medical approaches, skills in working with oncological patients, and advanced care techniques.
✔️ Establishment of colonoscopy and women-specific screening courses: Discussions focused on organizing these courses to prevent cancer through early diagnosis, which plays a crucial role in preventing diseases.
✔️ Improving doctors’ competencies: A priority task will be enhancing healthcare professionals’ ability to detect cancers earlier, thereby improving treatment effectiveness.

✔️ Supporting the Andijan branch of the Republican Specialized Scientific-Practical Medical Center for Oncology and Radiology: This includes collaboration on implementing international grant projects and professional development initiatives.
✔️ Additionally, attention was given to developing health management practices, effective hospital administration, rational use of resources, and service quality improvement.

This meeting marked an important step towards increasing the international prestige of Andijan State Medical Institute, strengthening its scientific-practical potential, and introducing contemporary knowledge and experience into the field of oncology. All parties agreed to consistently continue their partnership and implement the established plans gradually.
