- The library of Andijan State Medical Institute was established on the base of the institute in 1955.
The library of ASMI was transformed into Information Resource Center in accordance with the Decision of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated June 20, 2006 No. 381 “On the organization and providing the population of the Republic with information library”.
The library was headed by A.K. Kaunbaev in 1955-1965, by L.N. Illek in 1965-1969, by N.I. Eletskaya in 1969-1981, and by L.R. Maynakskaya in 1981-1987.
Mukhtaram Sanjarovna Akhmedova has been the director since 1988.
News of the Information – Resource Center:
In order to automate the work of the information resource center, in January 2024, the “UniBook MINI HF” independent book delivery equipment and the IRBIS 64+ program were installed.
Additional reading halls were established in the main building of ASMI, in the ASMI student hostel. These reading halls are equipped with educational, scientific, fiction and other literature and computer sets.

- The Department of scientific methodological information and periodicals
Provides methodological support to IRC departments and branches in providing information – bibliographic services to users.
The activity of the department includes the reviewing the decisions and decrees of the President and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan, orders of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, the Ministry of Health and the management materials of higher organizations on librarianship, the scientific library of the National University named after Mirzo Ulugbek recommended to the methodical manuals and other materials, orders, instructions, recommendations, methodical manuals of the Institute and improve them in the IRC.
- Department of integration, cataloging and systematization of information and library resources.
The IRC fund will be replenished according to the plan.
The department organizes scientific and technical processing (classification, cataloging) of documents received by the Information Resource Center. The department formalizes them in the registration book and transmits them to the relevant departments. The department prepares literature and periodicals issued from the IRC fund and transfers documents about them to the accounting department of the institute.
- Department for servicing information and library resources (including subscription services, study rooms and book depository)
The department controls the timely provision of services to professorial-teaching staff, staff and students, the organization of information work, exhibitions and other events for the most active and effective promotion of the book.
Performs all processes related to the organization, placement, storage and use of the book collection.
Researches user requests and develops proposals to improve the efficiency of their service.
- Department of electronic information resources.
In its work, the department keeps records of electronic information resources of automated workplaces.
The department creates electronic forms of new incoming literature to the Information Resource Center and regularly provides them to users.
Autonomous equipment for book delivery “UniBook MINI HF” and the IRBIS 64+ program serves the students, publishes IRC news on the IRC website, and provides the professorial-teaching staff with resources from EBSCO and Sciencedirect.
- Department of work with foreign information library resources
The department works with international students, provides them with practical assistance in finding the necessary foreign literature, and ensures the organization of exemplary work.
Performs all processes related to the organization, placement, storage and use of literature in foreign languages.
IRC branches: in the Markhamat district – 1. The Markhamat district branch under ASMI provides services to a wide range of residents of the region.
Currently, the book fund of the ASMI Information Resource Center consists of 217,787 copies in 27,920 titles .
Of these: Scientific literature – 51,005 copies in 16,043 titles.
Textbooks – 78881 copies in 673 titles.
Teaching aids – 37222 copies in 970 titles.
Foreign literature – 2210 copies in 287 titles.
Fiction – 22860 copies in 3242 titles
Other literature – 13973 copies in 2439 titles.
Electronic resource – 114086 titles.
ELECTRONIC DIGITALIZATION OF BOOKS
The Center’s electronic resource base consists of 114,086 titles. Of these: 57,631 titles of educational literature and 59,756 titles of other resources. Internet speed 100 mg/sec. Electronic forms of educational literature are posted on the “ELECTRONIC LIBRARY” page of the institute’s website “library.adti.uz” .
In order to ensure the implementation of the tasks to ensure the launch of the “Electronic Library” platform, the electronic platform unilibrary.uz was created; bibliographic descriptions and full texts of educational literature are included in its “Literature” section. At the moment the total number of resources is 222785.
catalog.unicat.uz. was developed by the National Library of Uzbekistan. The placement of bibliographic records of educational literature in the database of the collective electronic catalog of the republic has been launched; during a year the bibliographic records of educational literature in the amount of 1510 titles have been placed.
