On January 22-23 the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China held the Uzbekistan-Chinese Education Forum in Beijing.
The forum was attended by 37 rectors of Uzbekistan and 110 of China’s leading higher education institutions, a total of 250 participants.
The event of the solemn forum was opened by Chen Sze, Deputy Minister of Education of China, Komiljon Karimov, First Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan. The event consisted of a plenary session and 4 panel sessions. Rectors of 37 leading higher education institutions from Uzbekistan and 110 from China, a total of 250 participants, took part in it.
On the first day of the forum, representatives of the institute led by M. Madazimov, the rector of Andijan State Medical Institute also participated in the Forum. A memorandum of cooperation was signed with Andijan State Medical Institute and Wuhan University of China. It envisages the establishment of cooperation in the fields of Immunology and Epidemiology.
Also, the rector of the institute participated with a lecture on “The role of international cooperation in the development of medical education” in “Medicine and Pharmaceuticals” part of the Forum. In his lecture he explained in detail that international cooperation in medical education and the exchange of experience proved to be highly important in the training of qualified personnel.
The second day of the forum was held in Tianjin. Forty mutual agreements on various fields were signed between Uzbekistan and higher education institutions located in Tianjin, and a number of agreements were reached through direct dialogue.
During this solemn event a memorandum of cooperation was signed between Andijan State Medical Institute and Tianjin University of Chinese Traditional Medicine.
It envisages the development of folk medicine at the institute based on the experience of China. The parties agreed to organize effectively the cooperation.
During the event agreements were reached between the higher education institutions of the two countries on the organization of many joint educational programs. Based on this joint education program, more than 300 students will have the opportunity to study at advanced Chinese universities. At the same time agreements were reached on the organization of grant programs for more than 100 Uzbek students within the framework of the Forum.
In addition, the Beijing Declaration on cooperation between Uzbekistan and China’s higher education institutions was adopted. Within the framework of this Declaration it is envisaged to create an institutional platform between higher education institutions of China and Uzbekistan, to form a model of China-Central Asia educational cooperation, to develop further academic exchange programs, to implement joint research and innovative projects.
