With the cooperation of the Andijan Regional Department of Health, Andijan State Medical Institute and the Regional Information and Resource Center named after Z.M.Babur, a memorial meeting was held on the topic “Uzbekistan, in particular Andijan, at the beginning of the development of medicine.”
The event, held at the Regional Information and Resource Center named after Z.M. Babur, was attended by leading representatives of health care, Vice-Rector for Youth Affairs, Spirituality and Education of the A.S.M.I. S. Salakhiddinov, professors, teachers, deputy deans, tutors and students.
At the beginning of the event, the memory of the Russian surgeon V. Voyno-Yasenetsky was honored, his life and works were remembered. Also, those present paid tribute to the memory of the founders of the Andijan State Medical Institute Yusuf Otabekov, Rakhim Nurmukhammedov, Satkul Djumabaev.
“The second rector of the Andijan State Medical Institute, Yusuf Otabekov, supervised the construction of the institute’s clinic and multidisciplinary polyclinics. He was the initiator of the creation of the bust of our great ancestor Abu Ali Ibn Sino, to whom he was very similar. Y. Otabekov prepared a color album about this bust in three languages and presented it in 1980 in Spain. He also had many successors,” said the head of the Department of General Hygiene, Associate Professor M. Solieva.
The meeting participants expressed their views on this event. The organizers congratulated the doctors on their professional holiday and wished them success and patience in training qualified personnel.
