
Today, on February 12, a spiritual and educational event titled “Love Your Homeland Like Bobur!” was held at Andijan State Medical Institute to commemorate the 542nd anniversary of the birth of the great poet and king, Zahiriddin Muhammad Bobur, a son of Andijan.
The event was attended by the institute’s rector M. Madazimov, First Vice-Rector for Youth Affairs and Spiritual-Educational Work S. Salohiddinov, Doctor of Philology, professors A. Sobirov and B. Rahmonov, Chair of the Andijan Regional Branch of the Uzbekistan Writers’ Union H. Kuchkarova, and students.
The rector opened the event with an introductory speech, discussing how Zahiriddin Muhammad Bobur, as a brilliant representative of Uzbek classical literature, a great commander, king, and poet, left an indelible mark on the history of Movarounnahr and made a significant turning point in India for several centuries.
“Bobur’s creative legacy stands out with its uniqueness and comprehensibility. We all share the responsibility for passing his works down from generation to generation,” said the rector.
Following this, the speakers emphasized that Zahiriddin Muhammad Bobur occupies a unique place in the cultural, literary, and poetic heritage of the medieval East as a writer, poet, scholar, as well as a prominent statesman and commander. They noted that Bobur established the Baburid dynasty in India with his broad worldview and remarkable intellect, leaving his name in the history of that country as a statesman. They also highlighted that his work “Boburnoma” is recognized alongside the world’s famous historians, and his exquisite rubaiyat are among the rare gems of Turkic poetry.
Afterward, the artistic part of the event began. Students showcased scenes reflecting Bobur’s life and work. Interesting facts about Bobur’s heroism, love for art, and his activities promoting justice were presented. Ghazals and rubaiyat were performed, while songs and dances shared an uplifting mood with everyone present.
