Language is a symbol of the state, its property, spirit, cultural and spiritual wealth of the nation, traditions, lifestyle and history of the people. As long as the language exists, the nation lives on. Today’s holiday marks the 35th anniversary of the Uzbek language being granted the status of a state language, which is being widely celebrated across our country.
In particular, on this occasion, a celebration event titled “The Unfading Source of Our National Values” has been held today in Andijan State Medical Institute.
First, the rector of the Institute, M. Madazimov, delivered a congratulatory message.
“The mother tongue is not just a means of communication; it is also a symbol of love for the homeland, national pride and respect for ancestors and, at the same time, a symbol of dignity for our descendants. We must not forget each citizen’s responsibility to elevate the status of the Uzbek language and transform it into a true state language. I wish you all health, strength and unity on this honorable path”, said the rector in his congratulatory message.
Following that, Z. Rakhmatova, a senior teacher from the Department of Uzbek Language and Literature, provided information about recent changes aimed at increasing the prestige of the state language and ongoing reforms to improve language policy as well as about the richness and charm of the Uzbek language.
In the artistic part of the event ghazals by Alisher Navoi and Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur were recited along with poems celebrating our mother tongue. Poems and songs were performed by students from the International Faculty.
