HISTORY AND ACTIVITY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF NEUROLOGY
The Department of Neurology of the Andijan State Medical Institute was founded in 1959. Its founder is the first Uzbek professor Khusniddin Kazakovich Salakhiddinov. In 1974, the department was transferred to the neurology department of the institute’s clinic. In 1984, the department was headed by Joseph Semenovich Yadgarov. From 1998 to 2006, Professor A.M. Karimov worked. From 2006 to 2018 it was headed by Associate Professor Shukhrat Usarovich Usmanov. From 2018 to 2023 it was headed by Ulugbek Takhirovich Abdukadyrov. Since 2023, Oybek Yakubovich Bustonov has been appointed head of the department.
Currently, the department has 30 professor-teachers, including 4 candidates of science, 6 candidates of science and associate professors. 16 senior teachers and assistants conduct scientific work as independent researchers and doctoral students defending candidate and doctoral dissertations. Professors and teachers of the department actively participate in spiritual and educational events conducted by the institute, medical examinations conducted in regions and districts. International relations are regularly established with a number of countries. In particular, agreements were signed with the Kazan State Medical University, Alma-Ata National University and Bashkir National University. Several professors and teachers of the department completed internships in Turkey, Russia and Kazakhstan.
