The first forum of rectors of higher education institutions from Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan on the topic “Uzbekistan–Azerbaijan: Priority Directions for Developing Cooperation in Higher Education” took place at Andijan State University.
The event was attended by Shohrukh Daliyev, the First Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovations of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Idris Isaev, the Deputy Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, representatives from the Andijan regional administration, the Azerbaijani Embassy in Uzbekistan, as well as leaders from over 50 leading higher education institutions from both countries, including M. Madazimov, the rector of Andijan State Medical Institute.
During the forum, cooperation memorandums between higher education institutions were signed, and agreements were reached on establishing joint faculties and scientific centers. Additionally, open discussions were organized among the rectors to exchange experiences and address existing achievements and challenges.
This forum served to elevate the educational ties between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan to a new level, to implement best practices, and to strengthen strategic cooperation.
On the first day of the forum, a plenary session was held. Reports were presented on the prospects for mutual cooperation in higher education, science, and innovations, including academic exchanges, joint educational programs, and research projects. Experiences were shared. In bilateral meetings, joint initiatives aimed at deepening practical cooperation and enhancing educational quality were discussed. As a result of the negotiations, nearly 60 memorandums of understanding, cooperation agreements, and roadmaps were signed. These documents represent an important step in strengthening strategic partnerships in education and science. Additionally, the leadership of Andijan State Medical Institute and Nakhchivan State University signed a memorandum of understanding. This further solidified the cooperation between the medical faculty of Nakhchivan State University and Andijan State Medical Institute, facilitating the exchange of students and specialists.
Furthermore, according to the program of the event, representatives from both countries planted tree saplings as a symbol of friendship and to contribute to the “Green Space” project.
On the second day of the forum, presentations were conducted in breakout sessions. In the first session on “Trends and Strategies for Expanding International Cooperation in Higher Education,” the rector of Andijan State Medical Institute, Madamin Mo‘minovich Madazimov’s report titled “Cooperation between Andijan State Medical Institute and Medical Institutions and Centers of Azerbaijan” was presented by F. Rasulov, the institute’s Vice-Rector for International Cooperation.
After the presentations, F. Rasulov and A. Jalilzada, Vice-Rector of Nakhchivan State University, signed an agreement to further strengthen the exchange of specialists between both higher education institutions.
