Andijan State Medical Institute

In 1955, by the decision of the Government of Uzbekistan, a medical institute was opened in Andijan, and various departments were established.
The Department of Psychiatry was established in August 1959 on the basis of the Department of Neurology of the Regional Hospital. Due to the lack of staff, psychiatrists from Samarkand and Tashkent were invited.
H.A.Alimov, K.A.Mamedov, A.A.Askarov, R.S.Tursunova and others were the first to work at the department. In 1961, Khudoyor Alimovich Alimov, Doctor of Medical Sciences, was appointed the head of the department. In 1965 he was appointed head of the Department of Psychiatry at the I Tashkent State Medical Institute. Among the first assistants of the department were Mamedov Kuli Alievich, candidate of medical sciences (1963 -1967), Askarov Akbar Askarovich (1963 -1969), Zoxidov Javad Abdullaevich (1963-1964). During these years, the department had the following assistants: Candidate of Medical Sciences Iosifovich Nikolai (1964-1968), Karimov Rozi Karimovich (1959-1965), Kakharova Regina Abdurahmonovna (1961-1973). From 1965, Associate Professor R.S.Tursunova headed the department and until 1983 held this position. (1969-1995), Zorkina Valentina Nikolaevna (1968-1991), Shamsiboeva Muazzam Mamadalievna (1982-1985).
In 1975, a talented graduate of our institute MLAgranovsky came to work at the department. In 1987 he was elected head of the department of psychiatry, narcology and medical psychology. In 1982 he defended his dissertation on “Sotsialno- trudovoy prognosis bolnix periodicheskoy schizophreniey (sravnitelnoe kliniko- epidemiologicheskoe issledovanie)”. In 1992, M.L.Agranovsky defended his doctoral dissertation on “The relationship of endogenous and exogenous factors in the risk of developing schizophrenia (clinical – epidemiological research)” and in the same year M.L.Agranovsky was awarded the title of professor. Professor M.L.Agranovsky has published more than 1,300 scientific articles, as well as 189 scientific and methodological recommendations and 15 textbooks and 8 monographs. A total of 14 candidates of medical sciences and 2 doctor of medical sciences dissertations were approved under the scientific guidance of professor M.L.Agranovskiy. Currently, more than 20 independent seekers are receiving guidance.
In 1986, the department had the following staff: Avanesov Aram Georgievich (1986 – 1990), Kadyrov Ayder Georgievich (1986-1989), Kasimov Rustam Alimovich (1986-1998), Hasan- Zade Maxira Alievna (1987-2002), JalIlov Shukurullo Khudoiberdievich (1988-2001), Rakhimova Hanifa Nabievna (1988-1990), Inokova Gulnora Khamidovna (1989 -1990), Yusupova Munavar Abduraimovna (1992-1994), Isakov Mash’al Urmonbekovich (1992-1998), Khojiev Valijon Tuxtasinovich (1992-1994), Urmanov Shavkat Rashidovich (1993-2003), Jakbarov Oybek Odilovich (1992-1997), Usmanova Ra’no Marsovna (2000-2002). Gurman Elena Georgievna (2005 – 2016).
Currently, Professor Agranovsky Mark Lazarevich is the head of the Department of Psychiatry and Addiction. The staff of the department consists of 22 employees: assistant professor of the department A.A.Mirzayev, Ph.d., associate professor of the department M.A.Dolimova, Ph.d.
