Andijan State Medical Institute

Department of General Surgery of Andijan State Medical Institute was
established in 1957 on the basis of surgery department of Andijan
city hospital. Ibragim Kasimovich Karaev, PhD., associate professor,
was appointed as the head of the department. Associate professor
I.K. Karaev, assistants S.R. Rakhimov, A.S. Saidkhanov, I.Yu.
Ibadov, J.A. Mukhamedov worked in the first surgery department of
our institute. In 1964-1979, the department was headed by associate
professor D.Kh. Khodzhaev. In 1979-1982, the department of general
surgery was headed by associate professor K.R. Mirzaev. (Picture 2)
From the end of 1982 to 1988, the department was headed by Professor
O.Kholmatov. In these years, the chair’s base was transferred to the
surgical department of the clinic 2 of the Andijan State Medical
Institute. (Picture 3) In 1989-1991, it was headed by Professor Obid
Siddikovich Siddikov. In 1991-1993, associate professor S.P.
Khakimov, (Picture 4) In 1993-2013, professor A. Ya. Orinov headed
the department. (Picture 5) In 2013-2018, the department was headed
by Professor H. T. Musasaykhov. In 2018-2021, associate professor
S.Z. Salokhiddinov headed the department. (Picture 6) In 2021-2023,
Professor M. M. Madazimov headed the department. (Picture 7) From
2023, the department will be headed again by Professor H.T.
Musasaykhov. The department is located in the regional clinical
hospital, where associate professors D.Khodjaev, Yu.Yu. Khaimov,
assistants N.A. Grigoryan, M. Turgunov, O. Akhmedov worked. From the
end of 1982 to 1988, the department was headed by Professor
O.Kholmatov. In these years, the base of the department was
transferred to the ADTI clinic 2 surgical department. In 1989-1991,
professor Obid Siddiqovich Siddikov, in 1991-1993, associate
professor S.P. Khakimov headed the department. In April 1993,
professor Anvar Yasharovich Urinov became the head of the
department. The bases of the department have been expanded due to
the departments of 2nd surgery, vascular surgery, purulent surgery
and proctology. In 1985-1993, Kh.T.Musashaykhov, S.A.Koraboev,
Q.A.Yusupov, U.M.Koraboev defended candidate theses at the
department. Associate professors Kh.T.Musashaykhov, U.Koraboev,
Q.A.Yusupov started work on their doctoral theses and successfully
defended them. Since 2000, the scientific potential of the
Department of General Surgery of ADTI began to rise. In 2000-2005,
the scientific potential of the department was 3 doctorate, 5
candidate of science dissertations. In 1989, A.L. Kosimov
successfully defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic “Use of
lymphatic and laser methods in the treatment and prevention of
complications from operations in Oshkozon”. (Picture 8) In 2005,
M.M. Madazimov successfully defended his doctoral thesis on the
topic “Surgical rehabilitation of patients with complications of
burns”. In 2010, assistant B.Kh. Matkarimov defended his candidate’s
thesis on the topic “Patogeneticeskie aspekty kompleksnogo lecheniya
ostroy tonkokishechnoy neprohodimosti”. The department operates in 5
scientific directions: 1. Improvement of treatment methods for
complicated gastric and duodenal ulcers. 2. Application of medical
glues in general surgery. 3. Application of sorption technologies in
the fight against endogenous intoxication in general surgery. 4. Use
of plastic methods in the surgical treatment of combined heart
defects. 5. Improvement of methods of transplantation of limbs
