Antibodies to the disease have been found in the breast milk of mothers who have recovered from coronavirus. This conclusion was made by scientists from the Beijing Institute of Biotechnology (China) and a group of specialists from the University of California Merced (USA). This was reported by the Russian daily newspaper “Izvestiya”.
According to scientists, the milk of nursing mothers contains specialized antibodies that can survive in the digestive tract after being treated with gastric juice. Scientists believe that it is these antibodies that protect babies from coronavirus.
According to research from King’s College of London (UK), immunity to coronavirus in people who have had the disease decreases sharply in just three months. According to experts, the highest content of antibodies to the virus is recorded in patients three weeks after the onset of the first symptoms. Scientists note that 60 percent in this period have a very high level of immunity to coronavirus. However, after three months, only 17 percent of patients retain strong immunity to infection.
