In fact, there is no over-description of Muhammad Yusuf, the People’s Poet of Uzbekistan. Among those between the ages of seven and seventy, you will not find anyone who does not know him or memorize his poems. Today, the poet, who humbly described his personality as “what is left of me, two lines of poetry”, has a real spiritual legacy.
Khakim of the region Shuhratbek Abdurahmanov also took part in the main event dedicated to the 67th anniversary of the poet, which was organized in the square named after Muhammad Yusuf.
The rector of our institute M. Madazimov, the pro-rector on youth affairs M. Botirov and a number of active students also took part in it.
On the occasion of the date, the regional administration presented two thousand books of the poet’s poems to the participants of the event. During the evening, family members, relatives and students of the poet spoke, talked about his life, work and memories. Samples of the poet’s poems, written in popular and fluent words, were read.
Every year on April 26, the village of Kovunchi in the Marhamat district, where the poet was born and raised, is crowded with guests from different parts of the country, foreign countries, and poets. Relatives, fans and students of Muhammad Yusuf, especially representatives of our institute, visited his grave and covered it with flowers. The event continued at the secondary school where the poet studied.
